What is LLMO?
LLMO (Large Language Model Optimization) ist die Praxis, Inhalte so aufzubereiten, dass grosse Sprachmodelle – wie z.B. ChatGPT oder Gemini – sie optimal erfassen und bevorzugt in ihren Antworten verwenden. Hier sind die Hauptziele auf einen Blick:
Increase visibility - structure content so that it is frequently cited by LLMs or played out as part of the answers.
Influence opinion/discourse - When LLMs "learn" with your content, you can influence LLMs' responses through your perspective.
Build trust - When your brand, product or service appears in LLMs, it increases the credibility of your business and builds trust.
Serve user needs directly - You can influence LLMs to provide information in such a way that users can find everything they need about your offer in the AI snippet ("zero-click").
Continuous monitoring - LLMO also includes ongoing tracking of your visibility, similar to SEO but with different metrics.
How does LLMO differ from classic SEO?
We have already written a detailed article about the similarities and differences between SEO and LLMO (GEO) here .
Basically, many things that are also necessary for SEO are important for LLMO. A technically clean set-up, fast loading times, structured data, etc. are also important factors for LLMs.
But there are also differences. For example, LLMO places more emphasis on optimizing entire text passages than just individual keywords. The semantics of words also play an important role. Instead of one focus keyword per page, you should aim for a larger set of keywords, as LLMs work with the so-called fan-out technique.
LLMO is currently still a very new field and therefore still in the experimental phase. We are also working daily to find new levers and factors with extensive testing and tools to significantly increase visibility in LLMs.

How long will it take to see results?
Similar to SEO, LLMO is a process that takes time.
The duration depends, among other things, on the intensity of competition and the current optimization status of your website.
